The Department offers the academic syllabi reflecting the present technological scenario existing worldwide. It strives to make education system responsive to the needs of the society and provides excellent industry - institution interaction. The Dept. is well equipped to offer the academic program of a central University and it takes active interest in inculcation of the competitive spirit in the students laying emphasis on seminars, library, project works, counseling and debating skills.

ECE department has established the following laboratories in accordance with the curricula of Pondicherry University.

7. Digital Circuit Design Lab

Communications Lab-I

It is the basic Communication lab in which Analog communication experiments like AM, FM modulation and demodulation systems and Radio Receivers.

Communication Lab -II

As per the Present day trend of digital communication this lab totally deals with digital communication experiments like ASK, FSK, PCM, DM, ADM. This lab is experiments related to synchronizing circuits and for TDM AND FDM are used to conduct multiplexing experiments.  

Advanced communication lab is modular system for the development of exercises and theoretical/ experimental courses on the fundamental of telecommunications. The system is highly innovative from a technological as well as an educational point of view. The modules are used as “ basic blocks” to build up in a flexible way the different communication system, and to examine all the peculiar operating characteristics.

Communication Lab-III

Fiber optics technology is rapidly becoming a familiar and indispensable part of human life. So this lab is covered experiments related to fiber optics. This lab also consist with Reflex Klystran and Gunn Oscillator bench setups, there by we can produce microwave frequencies up to        12 GHz. This lab is also equipped with ISDN Trainer Kit.  

Advanced communication Lab

The concept of image processing and digital processing is very essential to the present electronics and communication engineers. In advance communication lab we are using MATLAB 6.0 version for the experiments related to image processing and digital signal processing. The experiments such as contrast stretching, Noise variance image restoration for the image processing are being conducted. The experiments such as FIR filter design and IIR filter design using window techniques are being conducted.

This Lab is also equipped with Antenna Training system on which any kind of antenna can be tested and its characteristics can be plotted manually as well as by use of antenna plot system software. 

In this Lab we have Radar trainer kits to do various experiments related to Radars. This lab is also equipped with PC-to-PC satellite communication trainer kits.

Design and Simulations Lab

Both circuit simulation and control system simulation experiments are performed in the lab.  This lab is well supported by software packages of PSPICE 6.1, MATLAB 6.0 with all toolboxes, such as SIMULINK. Further, several computers are provided so that each student can carry out computer related experiments and projects independently.

Microprocessor Laboratory

This lab has advanced versions of microprocessors with greater flexibility and is established with a view to meeting the academic needs and requirements of practicals for all computer related branches in the institute.  The experiments relate to micro-controllers, analog to digital converters, speed control of stepper motor, traffic light control etc.

Presently the Department has young and dynamic faculty, who are student friendly and are actively involved in encouraging and guiding the students towards excellence.

Digital Circuits Lab

This lab is mainly covered with all kinds of combinational and sequential circuits. Experiments are conducted by use of 555 Timer, linear and Digital IC applications
