The Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities offers courses in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Material Science, Environmental Science, English and General Proficiency. These are all building blocks for a strong foundation of Engineering Sciences.
The Academic career of the students joined in this college begins here. The students are given proper orientation about the Engineering Professionalism while inculcating in their attitude a sense of discipline, responsibility and seriousness about their studies.
Communication Skills and Personality Development
An efficient Engineer is one, who acquires sound technical knowledge with good communication skills. Since the medium of instruction is English, the students must be able to communicate effectively in English and in order to promote such language skills in Engineering graduates, a course module in English language is introduced in first semester of the four years Engineering degree course.
With a view to further improve the communication skills, the subject General Proficiency comprising of course contents like seminars, group discussions, personality development, listening and speaking skills etc. is offered to the students of all the branches unto 6th Semester.

Physics & Chemistry Labs:
Physics and Chemistry Laboratories are set up in spacious rooms, well equipped with adequate analytical apparatus and chemicals for chemical analysis and with the measuring instruments and equipment applicable to the measurement of physical quantities.
Mathematics constitutes a strong component in the prescribed University syllabus and as this subject is the backbone for all Engineering subjects, it finds a place in the curriculum for all the branches up to the fifth semester.
There are seventeen teaching faculty members in this department who are highly qualified and well experienced in their respective fields.
