Admissions
For admission to the Management Quota seats of any of the B.Tech. degree courses, candidates must have appeared for the Entrance Test and should have fulfilled all the requirements prescribed there for. The Entrance Test is of 2 papers of 2 hours duration each and consists of (i) 60 questions(objective type) in Mathematics and (ii) each 40 questions in Physics and Chemistry.
Candidates should have a pass in HSC (academic) examination conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary Examination of Tamilnadu or the examinations equivalent thereto, Intermediate conducted by Board of Intermediate Education, A.P. and the pre-degree examination conducted by BHSE., Kerala, with a minium of 45% marks (a mere pas for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate in the subjects-Mathematics, Physics and any of the following optional subjects:
Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science/Biology (Botony and Zoology)
Candidates should have a pass in HSC (vocational stream in the area of Engineering and Technology) examination conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary Examination of Tamilnadu or any other equivalent examination there to with 45% marks (with a mere pass for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate in the subjects - Vocational subjects and related subjects (Mathematics/Physics/Chemistry) are also eligible for admission to B.Tech. degree course.
The vacant seats are to be filled in the second year of the course (Lateral Entry) by the candidates of diploma.
The students having passed 3 year diploma in engineering conducted by the Government of Pndicherry or its equivalent, with a minimum of 60% aggregate in second and final year diploma in appropriate branch are eligible for admission to the second year.
The NRI/Management/Lapsed seats can be alloted by the management of the college to any candidate, who fulfills the eligibility criteria for admissions in any engineering college of Pondicherry University.
Age Limit: For admission to B.Tech. degree courses candidates should have completed 17 years of age reckoning 31st December of the academic year as the reference date. The upper age limit is 21 years, relaxable up to 3 years for SC/ST candidates. From the current academic year (2006-'07) there is no upper age limit for Later Entry.
Allocation of Seats:
(a) Allocation of seats through Centralized Admission Committee (CENTAC), Pondicherry - 20% of the sanctioned intake in each branch will be filled by CENTAC by conducting Joint Entrance TEst (JET). The admission will be subject to candidates fulfilling the eligibility requirement as laid down by the State Government and AICTE. The CENTAC will prepare a merit list of the ressults and allot seats according to the merit.
(b) Seats under Management quota - 80%: For admission against Management Quota seats, the candidate should have appeared in the Entrance Test noted below.
(i) Common Entrance Test conducted by the college as per the guidelines given by Admission Committee, Pondicherry.
or
(ii) All India Engineering/Pharmacy/Architecture Entrance Examination conducted by CBSE, New Delhi (AIEEE).
Advertisements inviting applications will be issued in vernacular and local dailies of the region in the month of May. Every candidate has to submit an application form in the prescribed form, which should be complete in all respects. The application form can be obtained from the Administrative Officer, RIT by paying Rs.300/- or it can be downloaded from the Institute Website: www.regencyengg.com, in which case the filled in form should be enclosed with a Demand Draft for Rs. 300/- in favor of "Regency Institute of Technology" payable at Yanam.
